Tactical – Possession Based Game

 

Size of area should relate to the number of players and ability of participants (9-18 players).Three equal teams (shows 4v4v4) play a possession based game with 2 teams maintaining the ball from the other (Example shows Yellows & Reds in possession while Blacks defend)
Goalkeepers could be introduced on the outside as shown (Green).
When the defending team regains possession they aim to maintain the ball with the team that did not give the possession away.
 Teams try to make a certain number of passes.
Progressions include – Vary touches, 2 touch, must take 3 touches, must dribble a player, cant pass to the same color.
Key Aims- (In Possession) movement & support, vision to identify options, communication with team members, executing the correct pass. (Out of Possession) defending principles, closing down, working together.
