November 2017 has seen the delivery of the first block of four contact dates on the FA of Wales/UEFA Goalkeeping ‘A’ Licence.
The start of the Level 4 course took place at The FAW National Training Centre at Dragon Park, Newport and will over the next 10 months cover 120 hours of coach education for professional coaches working with goalkeepers at Academy, Professional and International level, in both the male and female game.
I had great pleasure in Directing the course for the FA of Wales supported by co-ordinator Rob Thomas with 15 initial candidates providing some extremely positive feedback to this specialised course.
The UEFA course content will provide support to Goalkeeper Coaches working within their own employment environment, aiming to enhance their role as part of a management team, together with the enhancement of knowledge in areas including analysis, conditioning, periodisation and advanced coaching.
